Mission

Library serving as an information resource center aims to develop a comprehensive collections and provides an efficient dissemination of knowledge in 24 X 7 hours through web to the users.  

A law library is a place of power, knowledge, and opportunity. It provides a gateway to justice and a means for people to create positive changes in their lives and Communities.vivekananda College of law, library is one of the good law library in the city, serves as information and resource centre for the students and faculty members of the Institute.

The law library is the heart of the legal profession. It is the place to research, discover and explore the law. The library has a collection of more than 16,000 books, journals includes (national, International) and other materials related to law, including Indian and foreign law reports, legislation, and other legal materials. Library is having Wi- Fi enabled extends free Wi-Fi to the students to access online resources such as N-List, Manupatra and open source Law journals and books.VCL library adopts the open access library to fecilitate the users of the library to fulfill the S R Ranganathan’s  five laws of library Science

VCL Library is  located in I floor of the college  building with total area of 4000sqft built-up area, VCL library comprehensive print collection over 18,000 documents including series of commentaries on law , reference collection, encyclopedias, legal dictionaries, yearly digests etc, . .The Library focusing more than 50 legal subjects to support research and scholarship and have

strong emphasis on Jurisprudence, Constitutional law, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Cyber Laws, Human Rights, Public and Private International law, Business Law, Economic Laws, Arbitration, Labour Laws ,Environmental Law, Family Laws Language and

Linguistics and many more. To locate books and other material users can search an online database of library catalogue OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) through library intranet.

. VCL Library also subscribes N-list and Manupatra online legal database.

           An orientation programme is also organized for new students to help them acquaint themselves with the library system and services and for enabling maximum utilization of the available resources. Students enrolled into the academic programmes in Vivekananda College of law, Bangaluru are permitted to enter the VCL Library.

Library Timings:

  • working hours and days  00 am to 4.30.00 pm (Monday-Saturday)
  • Saturday between 9.00 am to 1.30. pm
  • Note: The library will be closed on all National/State holidays.

Library policies

This section is the important and backbone of the library that all the transactions in the library. All the patrons including faculty , administrative staff and students of the college are given a ID card the production of such card  would entitle to borrow books from the library.

 Circulation Rules for Moot competition

Moot court competitors are need to take prior approval from the principal. A patron I D is created each group of the students.A each group is entitled borrow 5 books including reference books.

CHECK OUT POLICY

 

Students should produce their ID cards for all transactions in the library. Students and members of the faculty are requested to return all the library books in break of the semester. Reference books, Journals and  Bare Acts are frequently referred sources hence these materials will be issued  overnight period  only

CHECK IN POLICY

Books should be returned  on or before the  due date mentioned in the due date slip. Students are expected  to  reply to notice and reminders sent by the library on regular basis.

LOST/DAMAGED BOOKS

 Users should replace the books at her /his own cost within 30 days along with fine if any. In case of lost and damaged books, if the user is unable to replace the book, twice or thrice the price of the book will be charged.
